Studying for Top

I have good habits. Well, good enough for getting above average grades. But not good enough to get to the top of the class. I have used this study technique for the last 2 years of high school and garnered me an honor student grade.

But to excel in college with different people with different techniques, I have to take my style up a notch. I want to be the best in my batch. From that I need to develop an effective (that works amazingly) and efficient (in the least amount of time and energy) learning technique. And believe me, I tried many.

Some don’t stick because in doesn’t work on the short run. Yes, I base the effectiveness of a learning strategy on the short term. Why? sometimes quizzes and graded recitations are unannounced so its best to learn something as quickly as possible while still learning a lot.

I tried active recall, flash cards, Feynman Technique, Mind map, Spaced repetition, and and the like. I know these are effective methods of learning however, it takes up too much time, or it’s just me who doesn’t know how to make use of these techniques.

I want to integrate the Active Recall method that I learned from Cal Newport, but I can’t seem to know how the process work. I don’t have a plan of attak for my lessons when I’m reviewing that’s why I’m all over the place when studying. Ending up demotivated and never review again after a few hours.

Anyways, I need to think of a more inventive strategy that incorporates flash cards and active recall. As of now the most effective technique that I have tried so far is flashcards, specifically using the Quizlet App. It’s very useful to be honest.

See you later.
