Pixel Art: First Landscape

Farmhouse

From the previous logs, I recently posted that I recently started doing Pixel Art. I started learning it around the second week of February 2020. I always wanted to do this kind of thing since I want to make some shit from my own imagination. Anyways, I am always fascinated by Pixel Art not just in games but as a form of medium.

I don’t know why, but I find pixel art aesthetically pleasing and I planned to pursue this interest. So I went all in and bought a course. Though I have to pay, I still find it worth the money. I’ll tell this story for another time.

So I started making lines, doing shades, and started making simple objects. Though I find these process fun, there are times that I don’t want to do it. I mean it’s natural since the reason why I started to do pixel art in the first place was to make my own landscape not to draw some simple lines that I’m not interested in. But, I know that these exercises are important since they are fundamental in building the skills to making things through my imagination.

So I resolved myself to make one landscape art every other week with the skills that I’ve learned currently and the quality of the art depends on me if I want to color it, shade it, or just simply release the outline as it is. I have a set deadline for about 1 week since I don’t want to be that type of person who always get fixated on the small little things and be a Perfectionist.

I believe that this interest in Pixel Art stemmed from Minecraft. In Minecraft, I am a builder. Though I’m not a professional, I still make a somewhat decent house in my opinion. During these process I get lost and started doing some magical things and as soon I add the little details here and there. I step back and looked at it and admiring it from the distance.

From there, I linked Pixel Art and Minecraft together since then boom I just did it.

The farmhouse was something that I always had in mind for years. Since I was in Grade 7 to be exact. I wanted to draw the image in my mind but I cannot do so. It’s because of the lack of skill and the lack of commitment to practice drawing.

When I started learning Pixel Art as replacement for Drawing. I just said ‘Fuck it! Let’s just do the god damn farmhouse. If it’s shit then let it be shit. This is learning experience.’ hence the result we have above.

If I was asked whether I’m proud of the work then I would definitely say yes. But, am I satisfied with it? No. I know that I could do better but I’ll just try again next time. Well, that’s about it. BYE!
