After making 32×32 Pixel art for a few weeks, I just want to improve much faster. I want to make something that can be placed in someone’s gallery. I want my art to inspire people and I also want to make them think. In my part, I get inspiration from different sources such as Pixel Dailies in Twitter, PixelJoint.com, and r/PixelArt in Reddit.
The art made there makes me want to place my art in those places too! The type of art that I’m proud of. The art that I can place that would stand toe to toe with the art that I admire and saved on my phone. Those artists are amazing! It’s really hard to not get jealous of their skills, but I’m not jealous of those artists but rather they became my role model.
They inspired to come back to my fundamentals and learn more about them while making art small scale art along the way. I think that having to practice lines, shadings, and hue shifting (the technical part of pixel art.) while making art that you imagined is a great way to integrate and understand from what I learn from articles and my deliberate practice.
It’s similar to theory and application type of thing. When I deliberately practice, I tend to look at each line carefully. I ask myself questions like ‘How to make this corner less awkward?’, ‘Are there patterns that I can get from here?’, ‘Are there rules that would fit this type of scenario?’, etc. However, I haven’t truly grasped the minute details of the fundamentals of pixel art. I think I’ll come across them eventually in my journey.
That would be it. This week was fun in terms of pixel art and was boring outside of it.
