Pixel Art – Week 10: Expanding

I didn’t do much this week. I wasn’t preoccupied or anything at all. I just didn’t want to move. I want to make something but my body rejects it. I feel unmotivated and such. But that doesn’t concern this review.

For this week, I tried making things on a 64 x 64 canvas. I thought that I should step things up a notch and try a bigger scale. But, it still proves to be still intimidating for me.

I tried to make landscapes again, but I, ultimately, failed and rejected too make a new one. So, I decided to go back to the basic and try making shapes and doing shades. I was happy what it turned out. Especially so for the wine bottle. It isn’t perfect but still happy to see it took form.

After that, I tried following some tutorials on the internet. I saw Miniboss’s pixel art tutorial for vegetation and tried that and I also followed a fellow pixel artist on how to make a glass with content in it. It still sucked but I enjoyed doing the process.

I attempted another tree because I thought that I learned atleast some fundamentals when I made the 2 branches. At this point when I was drawing one of the branches, I made a pretty amateurish work flow.

First, I would draw a line on how things would look. Second, I will make rectangles, circles, and cylinders to make it look like a product. Third, I would outline it based on the shapes that I places. Lastly, color it and polish it.

It’s pretty amateurish, but it’s till better to have a process than to never have one at all.
