Having fun with breaking things

Pixel Art: Week 17

I’m trying to stay committed to making pixel dailies to hone my skills. There are days that I’m so demotivated that I didn’t do one for that day. I made it on the next day. Anyways, I’m still using the breakdown process to make my pixel art look good.

So far, the results are amazing, however it isn’t efficient. Then again, it is effective for understanding the major shapes needed for an art. It forces me to see the bigger picture rather than be fixated on the details.

Pixel Daily: Eel

There’s no breakdown for this art. I used Dr. Smey’s pixel art as reference to make this. It’s kinda shit. I’m quite disappointed with this.

Pixel Daily: Darkness

Although I have references for this piece, I still can’t translate the shadows and highlights for it. That’s why the background light sucks.

Pixel Daily: Joy

I had fun making this. This was really the moment that I fell in love with breaking down things. I love it. It was an incredible joy to make.

Pixel Daily: Kitten

This topic was the one that daunted me the most. I’m supposed to draw a kitten but a kitten with a body? That’s way out of my scope of skills. So, I settled for the head even that was kind of overwhelming as well. But, it’s thanks once again to breaking it down to bigger shapes that helped make this.
