Momentum Build-up

One thing I’ve always dismissed when building habits is momentum.

When atomic habits and momentum combine, habits will increment in size and in scope.

Building the right habits with the right scope usually is a daunting task, but with small incremental steps and leveraging momentum it’s so easy.

However, I’ve also noticed that when the habits start becoming easier and bigger, the more important it is to never let go off the momentum.

I’ve made the same mistake multiple times, and still haven’t internalized it till now.

When you leaped out of the momentum, you’ll burn out.

You’re going to think about: “I did this before, why can’t I do it again?! What’s happening to me! Arrrggh!”

You’ll get inside your head, and you’ll repeat that emotional rollercoaster of being a rockstar and being a failure month after month and it’s so unhealthy for the mental health.

You’ll realize that you’re trapped in a mental cycle until one day you realize that the best way is to ‘never break the chain.’ EVER. Period.

Alright, that’s it for me!

This post will serve as my reminder to never be arrogant and complacent once a habit becomes big and effortless.
