I heard the stories about my colleague who went to South Korea to work there for a year.

He was sponsored and he had company allowance to spend.

So he was able to save this regular income plus the additional stipend.

He’s making basically two salaries.

Not only that, they said that he was enjoying work over their since it’s mostly research and development – trying out proof of concepts, research, and some other bullshit.

They said he was worried about going back to the Philippines knowing he’ll work with maintenance again.

To be honest, I got envious. If I had stayed over at my previous company would I have been extended that same opportunity?
